“Head to your compass’ light…and hope it leads to eternal life”

Today I turn a year older. A wise man once said “the best gifts are those you give” and so, after a 5 years hiatus, I am returning to a world of sharing opinions and ideas..the place where experience and points of views are framed into words for prosperity…the world of writing.

A good practice I developed over the years is spending the first few hours of the my birthday reviewing the project called ME. And the conclusion years on this earth has given me is…I know absolutely nothing. And that admission is liberating.

On a personal note for example, I never knew I could learn another language. In my 30ties, I learnt to speak Spanish fluently. I also never knew I could teach or like teaching but two years in the career and I am beginning to get some form of fulfillment from it.

But, I also don’t know much about people. People are an embodiment of culture, interpretations and impulses all working to further their individual and collective agendas. It makes predicting events impossible and curve-balls unavoidable.

It also make predicting the future a little bit complicated because despite all the human advances in rationality, most of us believe in myths and use these myths to guide our lives and decision making.

So knowing I know nothing about myself, my society or my future, I decided I want to do two things as I gain another year: read and write.

I want to read about about the foundation of economics, human anthropology, culture, Data Science AND write about my readings. So I am hoping this blog will contain book reviews on some days, and scripts on how to (for example) develop AI chatbots.

I most admit achieving things like these can be daunting especially as I have life to cope with; this makes me hope not only to capture your attention, but also mine. I hope on this journey will help me to continually see the world in a new way…. and most importantly find the words to capture what I see. My hope is not to curate literature for the beauty in it…rather to construct ideas that can add the ever present discussion of why we are here.

“ If you can dream — and not make dreams your master… you’ll be a Man”.. Ruyard Kipling.
